Tony G3RGQ

|
Thursdays - G8RQB, Colin & G3RGQ Tony & G6FSU
Martyn
Colin G8RQB passed the Radio Amateurs Exam in 1959 but did not take out his licence until 1973. He was educated in Germany 1946 - 1956 in British Forces Educational Schools ( Hamburg & Wilhelmshaven ). Colin's father was serving in Germany during this period. As the result of living in Germany for this extended period Colin is bilingual & enjoys QSO's in the German language.
Colin is married to Sally (1964) - they live in Royston some 7 miles South of Duxford, he has two daughters & 4 grandchildren. Radio has been in his blood since he was 10 years old, starting with building crystal sets & progressing through to Amateur Radio. He was employed in the Electro-dynamic Vibration Testing business for most of his working life & worked for Ling Electronics, a company which in the early days, was known as Pye Ling.
When operating at Duxford, despite the current poor conditions, he normally works on 20 Mtrs - he also keeps an open ear on 17 Mtrs just in case!
